Feedback from a previous scholarship recipient:

“Women in Development (WID) has played a pivotal role in shaping my journey into the nonprofit industry and transforming my understanding of social impact and development work. When I first joined the organization, I was newly into development and joined during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was looking to make a meaningful difference in the world but felt overwhelmed by the vastness of the nonprofit sector. WID became my guiding light, providing me with the knowledge, resources, and support I needed to navigate this challenging yet fulfilling realm.

Through their workshops, seminars, and networking events, WID exposed me to a diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and expertise. Their commitment to empowering women in the development field inspired me to believe in my potential and gave me the confidence to pursue my career aspirations. I encountered countless passionate and talented individuals who willingly shared their insights, which enriched my understanding of the industry and expanded my professional network.

Moreover, WID's mentorship program proved to be an invaluable asset during this year. I was fortunate to be paired with an experienced mentor who guided me through the newness of being in development and joining WID. Her encouragement, advice, and constructive feedback were instrumental in my confidence to take the leap and get more involved, so much so, I joined WID’s marketing and communications committee!  It was a transformative experience that instilled in me the importance of paying it forward and supporting other women in their development journeys.

Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am incredibly grateful for the profound impact WID has had on my professional growth. It was through their support and encouragement that I not only found my passion for nonprofit work but also acquired the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact in the communities we serve. Women in Development has been an instrumental catalyst in my career, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this transformative community, empowering women, and driving positive change in the world."     Tori Costa
