Ever wondered how women in the human service profession manage the constant tension between their deep sense of purpose and the pressures they face? 

This one hour, virtual, lunchtime special is a must-attend for anyone working in human services or those who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. 

You will meet with 3 professional women all willing to tell you their story. We thank them for their time to join us so early on in the new year and we invite you to release yourself from the pressures of your day, to take a break, listen, absorb and digest.

 Andrea Kalsow
Andrea Kalsow is a versatile, mission-focused nonprofit professional specializing in fundraising, marketing and communications, event planning, project management and community relations. With more than 13 year in the nonprofit sector, she is experienced in a variety of nonprofit settings, both in terms of size and mission, but the through line is a commitment to social health and well being of local communities. In her current role as the Director of Development and Communications at On The Rise, a Cambridge-based day shelter, she leads a small but mighty fundraising team, which raises $1.2 million annually in private funding, and strives to create a communications environment that empowers storytellers and that ethically and equitably shares the stories of program participants and their experiences. Outside of her professional pursuits, Andrea is also interested in endurance sports,  bread baking, and telling you all about her rescue cats.

Phillicia Michel
Phillicia Michel is a New Graduate Nurse at Mother Caroline Academy with seven years of experience in mental and behavioral health. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Social Work, and Science in Nursing. Her professional background includes working with children and families, supporting children with developmental and behavioral diagnoses, and caring for individuals with substance use challenges and disorders. Phillicia’s volunteer work has focused on youth outreach, healthcare services, and health promotion within her local church community.

 



Robin Whitney
Robin Whitney is an experienced non-profit leader, having worked in the fundraising sector for over a decade. She serves as the VP of Advancement and sits on the leadership team at YW Boston. Robin has worked at social justice organizations, as well as major art institutions, and national mentorship organizations. She brings her lived experiences as a woman of color and immigrant to her work. Robin holds a bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies from DePaul University with a focus on service learning and social justice. She also holds a master’s degree from New York University in Latin American and Caribbean Studies with a focus on human rights.
