THEN AND NOW IN DEVELOPMENT HIRING:

Emerging trends in hiring for a more inclusive future.

THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2022

Over the years (and specifically in the last two), the professional world has changed significantly. Hiring processes have changed drastically in the past few decades to accommodate many of the societal, cultural, technological and philanthropic transformations as well as health concerns of our new reality. Meanwhile, in many workplaces in our sector we have only reluctantly adapted or are perpetually stuck in procedural “old ways” that glorify the “good old days” because that was the way we were taught to practice. Should we hold on to antiquated notions for the sake of tradition, or can we effectively keep some of the older practices and adapt them to our new reality and to the diversity of the workforce?

This session will focus on and question what we tend to consider as philanthropic “best practices” in development recruitment and retention. Experts in the field will discuss the challenges and potential solutions to policies and procedures that may not as effectively serve the current advancement workforce and growing commitment to increasing diversity in the profession.

Anticipated takeaways:

Learn some innovative hiring practices in this competitive candidate market, from a variety of search and talent professionals. Develop an understanding about new hiring processes, career management, and professional development, and reflect upon ways to take into consideration issues like the remote environment, the socio-economic market, aging workforce, the great resignation, fast paced searches, etc. We will talk about video interviews vs. in person, time and money saving tools like scheduling software, etc. During the event, you’ll be able to dig deeper into issues of diversity and inclusion and bias in the search processes.

Audience/Target Market: All development professionals, search and recruitment professionals
