Mary Heath
Mary Heath is an accomplished frontline fundraiser who found her calling for philanthropic work early on. With a passion for bringing communities together, Mary works to foster opportunities for donors to take action in tangible and impactful ways. As an Assistant Director of Individual Giving at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, Mary works with donors one-on-one to channel their meaningful connection to the Institute’s lifesaving mission into support for cancer research and patient care. In her current role, she navigates donors through the many ways in which they can support Dana-Farber including annual giving, planned giving, naming opportunities, volunteering, named funds, peer-to-peer fundraising, event participation, and much more. Mary has been a member of Women in Development of Greater Boston for three years, and is a proud graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
Mia Disano
Mia works at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, within the Jimmy Fund, on the Peer-to-Peer fundraising team. There, she works with participants at some of the Jimmy Fund’s signature events including the Jimmy Fund Walk and the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge for the Boston Marathon. She works to steward participants and help to fundraise, host events and reach their goals. She also manages the Partner Programs for both the Jimmy Fund Walk and Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge, where walkers and runners are paired with Jimmy Fund patients and participate and fundraise in honor of them. Additionally, Mia serves as a co-lead on the Social Engagement Committee, a volunteer run group in the Division of Philanthropy at Dana-Farber that helps to put on in-person and virtual events to connect members of the division.
Nicole Dumas
Nicole leads the talent management team for the Office of University Advancement at Boston College, overseeing recruiting, onboarding, and the professional and career development of the office’s 250 staff members. She is also the department advisor for the Office’s diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. Before joining Boston College in 2021, Nicole served as Director of Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy at the Boston Latin School Association, where she played a pivotal role in raising over $54M for the Prima Perpetua Campaign. Prior to that, she spent 18 years at Fidelity Investments, excelling in administrative, sales, relationship management, and training roles, and earning multiple honors, including the President’s Circle and Staff Excellence Awards. Nicole is a certified GallupStrengths coach and DiSC facilitator. She holds certifications from Harvard Extension School and the National School Foundation Association, and will receive her B.A. in Sociology at Boston College in Spring 2025. As President of Women in Development of Greater Boston, she continues to advance the field of philanthropy by fostering professional growth, cultivating meaningful networks, and championing inclusive practices that empower women in the nonprofit sector. Nicole lives in the Boston area with her husband and enjoys audiobooks, podcasts, and crime dramas in her free time.
Shane Dunn
Shane (he/him) has fundraising, engagement, and leadership experience at several effective Boston-area social sector institutions. Currently he is President and Founder of his own consulting firm, Shane Dunn Social Sector Strategies, which partners with nonprofits to identify their unique "why" and achieve their ambitious missions through philanthropy, communications, and advocacy. He is also Vice President and Senior Consultant with Chris Marshall Advancement Consulting (CMAC), a full-service consulting firm that works with colleges and universities on alumni engagement and development priorities. Prior to launching his firm, Shane was Chief Advancement Officer at Rosie's Place where he oversaw four external teams. Before Rosie's Place, Shane led advancement programs at Brandeis International Business School, Uncommon Schools / Roxbury Prep Charter School, and Excel Academy Charter Schools. Early in his career, he worked at Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Tufts University, and MIT Sloan School of Management. In addition to his professional work, Shane has been involved in numerous volunteer roles, including 11 years on the Board of Directors of GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD Law), including two years as Board Chair during a significant period of growth and transition. He formerly served on the Board of Trustees of Ellis Early Learning Center in Boston and was President of the Board of Directors of Cornell Club of Boston. He is currently participating in YW Boston's LeadBoston program for senior leaders committed to equity and inclusion. Shane lives in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston with his wife Elizabeth, an executive at Liberty Mutual Insurance, and their two young children, who attend a Boston Public School. Shane graduated from Cornell University and earned a master's degree in higher education administration from Boston College.
Sarah Roxburgh
Sarah Roxburgh became co-executive director and chief of operations at Veterans Legal Services in 2010, after previously serving as a staff attorney. Sarah specializes in raising the necessary resources to sustainably build capacity, managing and growing the VLS board of directors, committees, and staff, and developing and implementing systems to scale with VLS’s growth. Since 2010, Sarah has helped grow VLS’s budget by 12x, allowing for significant program growth. She has led VLS through several capacity-building initiatives, including with Social Innovation Forum (2014), the Nonprofit Learning Institute (2016), and Social Venture Partners, Boston (2018-2021). Sarah has served on the Nonprofit Learning Institute’s Alumni Council and is now serving a second term on Social Innovation Forum’s Alumni Council, which helps identify gaps in support for nonprofits. In 2019, she was named co-Lawyer of the Year by the Frank J. Murray Inn of Court. Sarah received her B.A. from Northeastern University and her J.D. from New England Law | Boston. Upon graduation, she received the New England Law | Boston Dean Timothy J. Cronin, Jr. Memorial Award for the graduate with the most outstanding contribution to public service. Sarah lives on the North Shore with her partner, Eli, and their dogs, Wally (Airedale/Welsh Terrier mix) and Rose (Welsh Terrier). She and her prior dog, Herman, volunteered at Boston Children’s Hospital through their therapy dog visitation program. Sarah has also volunteered with Christopher’s Haven, an organization providing temporary housing and support for families whose minor children are receiving cancer treatment in Boston.
