The past several months has forced nonprofits to take a deeper look at how they operate, raise funds and keep people engaged in their mission. As we look towards our future, and in the spirit of new beginnings, it’s important to reflect on what we’ve learned, where we can grow and how we can better position ourselves moving forward.
 


The Chronicle of Philanthropy released a five-part series exploring what’s next for foundations and nonprofits.  As we look at each of our organizations, we need to rethink our philanthropic priorities.   Review the four ways in which this article outlines how nonprofits can get started in that process.

If nothing else, this past year has taught us how to adapt to unexpected circumstances and to adjust to a new way of fundraising.  Now is the time to take a hard look at our revenue streams – are we diversified enough so if one is impacted, there are other ways for the organization to grow?

Despite all that is happening around us, charitable giving increased by almost 7.5% over the first of half of 2020 in comparison to the first half of 2019.  Where are we seeing these trends growing and how do we explain these numbers?

As fundraisers, we know how important volunteers are to our success.  More than eight in 10 respondents – 82 percent – agree that “once the pandemic is over we all must get involved to rebuild our communities and country.”  It’s important that we take note now so we can be better positioned to tap into our volunteer power!
