2010 Young Philanthropist Award
Women in Development of Greater Boston
Purpose
The Women in Development of Greater Boston Young Philanthropist Award recognizes and celebrates the contributions of young philanthropists, male or female, who make a difference in advancing the spirit of philanthropy in the greater community. The goals of the award are to recognize a young leader who inspires philanthropy, to highlight a model of philanthropic practice for future generations and to applaud the vital contributions made by a young philanthropist that advance the mission of a nonprofit organization.

Nomination Criteria
The nominee(s) must meet all of the following criteria:
- Assume a leadership role in promoting the mission and sustainability of the primary nonprofit organization served
- Inspire and motivate others to contribute financially and take on leadership roles that advance the nonprofit organization
- Demonstrate exceptional charitable responsibility and self-motivation
Eligibility
An individual, male or female, or group of individuals nominated must:
- Be between the ages of 12 and 18
- Currently work, volunteer or reside in Massachusetts
- Not be employed by the non profit organization he/she serves
- Conduct the fund raising work or activities with no or minimal help from his/her parents teachers, or non profit or community leaders
Nomination Process and Selection
- Nomination Deadline is Friday, April 30, 2010
- Parents/relatives cannot nominate their child/relative or serve as a reference; self-nominations will not be accepted
- Previous nominees may be re-nominated with updated information
- Members of WID and nonprofit organization staff members or leadership (including board members, executive directors, department heads, principals and heads of schools) can submit nomination forms electronically, by US mail or by fax to:

- The WID Awards committee will review nominees and make a recommendation of the recipient(s) to the WID Board for approval.
Mission of Women in Development of Greater Boston (WIDGB)
Women in Development of Greater Boston (WIDGB) is a nonprofit professional association of almost 1,000 members whose mission is to promote and support the advancement of women in the development profession and the importance of philanthropy. Today it is one of the largest organizations of advancement professionals in Massachusetts. WIDGB offers a variety of programs, services and opportunities for volunteer involvement.
