Women in Development: Celebrating A Quarter Century

The Brown Bag Committee Presents:

"More Than an Afterthought: Integrating the Internet Into Development Communications"

Speaker: Perry Hewitt, Principal, Colechurch Consulting

The internet has transitioned from a design-centric, 'nice-to-have' component, to a critical feature of Development Communications. While face-to-face contact will always be vital for effective fundraising, the internet enables development professionals to augment personal communications, and deliver consistent messages.

This session will discuss challenges faced by Development organizations, such as taming IT-driven initiatives and introducing internet possibilities to staff members who are not tech savvy.  The forum will also review examples of integrated marketing communications, and offer ideas for quick-hit programs to try in your own workplace.

Perry Hewitt develops meaningful integrated marketing programs for nonprofits and corporations in the higher education sector.  Recent clients include: Tufts University; Dorothy J. and Gerald R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, and Boston College.  Areas of experience and expertise are: user-centered design, information architecture, online communities, intranets, content management, open source software, and internationalization. Prior to establishing Colechurch, Perry worked in marketing technology positions at the following Boston-based companies: Razorfish, ArsDigita, Harcourt, Inc., Lotus Development Corporation, and a division of Simon & Schuster. She began her career in publishing at Houghton Mifflin Company.
