Women in Development of Greater Boston

The Program Committee Presents:

"It's Never Too Early To Engage Future Leaders"

Read the summary from this program

Speakers: Karaugh Brown, Kirsten Lundeen, and Katie Guay

Young members are the future of your organization - volunteers, donors, and advocates - so be sure you are doing what you can now to keep them involved for life. Learn the best practices of connecting with this influential group through targeted programming and communications, whether they are alumni of the last decade or members under the age of 40. Don't wait until they make it "big" to let them know how they can have a meaningful impact on your organization now.

Karaugh Brown has held a number of positions in Development at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum since she began working there in 2005. In her current role as Patron Programs and Events Officer, she manages the Young Patrons program, which launched in November 2010 and is designed for young professionals and art enthusiasts, ages 21-39. She has extensive experience in using e-communications and social media to engage young donors, activating and empowering a young leadership committee, and utilizing events to attract new donors. Karaugh holds a B.A. in Art History and English and an M.A. in Art History from Boston University.

Kirsten Lundeen began her development career in 2003 as an annual giving officer for Boston University. She served in frontline fundraising for five years, raising both annual funds and capital projects, before transitioning into alumni relations in October 2008 to serve as associate director of alumni relations. In this role, she is responsible for the oversight of young alumni, students, career development, and the College of Arts & Sciences engagement initiatives. She frequently speaks to alumni and student audiences about alumni networking for career advancement, and to professional audiences on successful engagement of both volunteers and donors in higher education. Kirsten is a tried and true Terrier, having received her B.A. from Boston University.

Katie Guay is the Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA. She has been at Nobles since 2008 and in this position, she works primarily with their young graduates. Last year, Nobles joined their rival, Milton Academy, for the first annual Nobles/Milton Young Graduate Challenge. In addition to this annual giving initiative, she organizes young graduate phonathons, encourages the senior class to reach 100% participation in their class gift and manages the 5th, 10th and 15th Reunion classes. Last year, she helped create a Young Graduates Committee which serves the interest of those who have graduated in the past 15 years. Katie is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and received her B.A. in business economics from Brown University.
