"Small Shop Success"

November 9, 2010 - Program Summary

On November 9, 2010, the program titled "Small Shop Success" featured Sarah Christensen from the Greater Boston Food Bank, Peter Kelly of the Boston Latin School Association, and Michele Urbancic from Judge Baker Children's Center. The program began with each speaker providing an overview of her/his organization's budget, staffing, mission, and goals. Then, there was a robust dialogue between the panel and guests on topics ranging from use of events for fundraising and friend-raising, donor acquisition strategies, managing volunteers, stewardship, and finding and using external resources (particularly relevant for small shops). The event concluded with a discussion of personal leadership and organization-wide challenges (and some solutions) that the speakers have experienced during their tenure. It was an honor to hear from three seasoned professionals regarding this important area.
