If you are looking for a great way to make new professional connections, join Women in Development for the Fall Networking and Career Development Reception on November 2, 2011. The Member Services Committee is hosting this annual event in a brand new format. Join us for a cocktail reception and "round robin" discussions with the following leaders in greater Boston area development shops.
Barbara Feldman - Assistant Dean for Development, MIT School of Architecture and Planning
Barbara is Assistant Dean for Development at MIT School of Architecture and Planning and has more than ten years of development experience in the area of major gifts. She was previously the Director of Principal Gifts at the Museum of Science Boston. Prior to joining the Museum of Science, she was Director of Development for Harvard University Art Museums, where she laid the groundwork for a major campaign. She began her career in fundraising as a major gifts officer at Combined Jewish Philanthropies in that institution's first comprehensive campaign. Barbara is a graduate of Connecticut College and earned her Masters from the University of Montreal. She serves as Treasurer for Women in Development of Greater Boston and is a member of the board of ArtCorps.
Mary Beth Martin, Esq. - Senior Managing Director, Changing Our World, Inc.
With more than twenty years' experience in the fundraising field, Mary Beth Martin has done extensive work in higher education focusing primarily on the establishment of fundraising programs, planned giving, major gifts and capital campaigns. Since joining Changing Our World, Mary Beth has provided fundraising advice to a variety of nonprofits, ranging from The State University of New York and The College of Mount Saint Vincent to The Archdiocese of Boston, The New York Academy of Medicine and the United Nations International School. She is co-editor and a major contributor to Mapping the New World of American Philanthropy (Wiley and Sons, March 2007). She began her career in fundraising in the planned giving office at Boston College and subsequently at Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts where she served as Director of Planned Giving and Associate Vice President for Development and Alumnae Relations. Mary Beth also served as an adjunct professor of Business Law in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and taught introductory law courses for the American Institute of Banking. Prior to her fundraising career, she worked as a Trust and Estate Administrator at State Street Bank and Trust Company and the Bank of Boston. She received a B.A. degree from Boston College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School.
Elizabeth "Libby" Roberts - Director of Development—Campaign and Individual Giving, Boston Symphony Orchestra
Elizabeth 'Libby' Roberts, a former vice president of WID, has three decades of experience in many philanthropic disciplines. Prior to her current role as Director of Development - Campaign & Individual Giving at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, her experiences include serving at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Law School, Dartmouth College, Northeastern University, Milton and Phillips Academies. A recipient of Dartmouth's Distinguished Young Alumni Award, she also received Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Employee Platelets Pheresis Donor of the Year – to date she has donated over 180 times. She currently serves as president of the Boston Ronald McDonald House board of directors.
Aideen Jenkins - Manager of Development and Operations, B.F. Skinner Foundation
Aideen directs fundraising and administrative operations for the B.F. Skinner Foundation in Cambridge, MA. Prior to this, she was Associate Director of Alumnae Relations at Pine Manor College. She has worked in annual giving, capital campaign, alumni relations, and volunteer management. In addition, she has worked as a hands-on volunteer in many community and health-related organizations. Born in Ireland and raised in upstate New York, Aideen is a graduate of the University of Vermont and earned her MBA from SUNY-Binghamton. She is Co-Chair of the Marketing Committee for Women in Development of Greater Boston.
Luanne Kirwin - Vice President - Development, Northeastern University
Luanne is Vice President of Development at Northeastern University. Prior to this, she served as Director of Development at Phillips Academy and Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations for Emmanuel College. Luanne's experience also includes the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as Assistant Dean, Development and Alumni Relations; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as Director of Foundations and Director of Planned Giving; and Brandeis University as Associate Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations and Planned and Major Gifts. Luanne is a graduate of Merrimack College and is a member of Women in Development of Greater Boston.
