Women in Development of Greater Boston
The Program Committee Presents:
"Developing and Managing Your Online Brand"
Read the summary from this program
Speaker: Susan Getgood, Vice President Sales Marketing, BlogHer Inc.
Do you have a personal "brand"? Is there consistency between your social media selves? The number of colleagues
and potential employers who use on-line research prior to a face-to-face introduction grows each day. It is a critical
part of our professional development to present a positive, well-rounded and consistent persona on sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Susan Getgood will help us understand the importance and guide us through the development and maintenance of your on-line identity.
Susan Getgood has been involved in online marketing since the early 90s, and watched the web evolve from the first browsers to the interactive communities we participate in today. In Fall 2010, Susan joined BlogHer Inc. as VP Sales Marketing. In this role, she promotes the many unique opportunities for advertisers to engage with the BlogHer community and works with brands to develop creative and effective cross-platform marketing programs to reach the BlogHer audience.
Her professional marketing blog, where she writes about social media and marketing strategy, is Marketing Roadmaps. She also writes a personal blog, Snapshot Chronicles, and a family travel blog, Snapshot Chronicles Roadtrip. Her first book, Professional Blogging For Dummies, was published in July 2010.
Susan is a Senior Fellow of the Society for New Communications Research and speaks regularly at social media conferences like BlogHer, Mom 2.0 and New Comm Forum. She is a co-founder of ethics initiative Blog With Integrity and appeared on the Today Show in April 2010 to talk about respect and responsibility in the blogosphere.
Plus, if your LinkedIn photo needs to be updated, this is a great opportunity to get a professional photo taken for your profile. Boston photographer Darlene DeVita will be doing portrait photography during this brown bag lunch for a special WID member rate of $40 per person. This fee includes the usual $15 brown bag lunch registration fee AND a portrait. The non-member rate is $25 plus $40 for the portrait. Please contact Katrin Aback for additional details or if you would like to have your portrait taken. You must reserve in advance.
