Read the summary from this program

Speakers: David Ford, University of Chicago; Kate Golden, The Steppingstone Foundation; Ellen Plapinger, Massachusetts General Hospital

Do you have a successful signature event, but want to learn more techniques to convert event attendees into organization supporters? Join us for a panel discussion on transitioning event attendees into full supporters of your organization utilizing a variety of techniques, including other events!

David Ford is the Director of New England Regional Alumni Relations & Development for the University of Chicago, an office he started for the University four years ago. Creating and heading a regional team of three while reporting into a 450-member Alumni Relations & Development operation gives David a unique perspective. Prior to working for the University of Chicago, David was employed by Northeastern University. The latter half of his tenure at Northeastern was spent directing fundraising for the College of Arts & Sciences, the first half doing planned giving and serving as the Director of Stewardship.

Kate Golden is the Director of Individual Giving at The Steppingstone Foundation, which develops and implements rigorous academic programs preparing underserved students for educational opportunities that lead to college. Prior to Steppingstone, Kate served as the Vice President of Development at Jumpstart, a national early education organization. Kate began her career in marketing at Fidelity Investments. She is the President of the Circle Board at the Copley Society of art, a member of the Boston Breakfast Group, and a member of the Emerging Leaders Board of The Massachusetts Women’s Forum.

Ellen Plapinger has an eclectic background with significant experience in the financial world, management and development - in the areas of major gifts, events and capital campaigns as both a staff professional and volunteer. She is also a member of the Grants Committee of the Hestia Group, a giving group that supports after school programs in the inner city, and serves on several other boards. Ellen’s current position at Massachusetts General Hospital includes working on the Storybook Ball, an event that has raised over $14 million over the last 11 years, and cultivating relationships with major donors and volunteers to increase the overall giving and involvement within the hospital.
