When WID was founded 25 years ago, the Development Profession
was predominantly male with very few women and virtually
no women holding leadership positions. WID was established
as a professional organization to provide women with more
opportunities to advance in the field. Over the past 25
years, the number of women in the field of development and
employed in leadership positions has increased dramatically.
While women have made great headway during this time, many
of the concerns regarding networking, skill building, salary
levels and job responsibilities are still relevant today.
Join us on October 20 as WID, Simmons School of Management
and the Center for Gender in Organizations unveil the results
of the 2005 Compensation Survey of Development Professionals.
The program, moderated by Susan Solomont of The Philanthropic
Initiative, will feature Dr. Susan D. Sampson and Dr. Lynda
L. Moore of Simmons School of Management, and Kristine Laping
of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Drs. Sampson and
Moore will share highlights form the findings of the survey
while Ms. Laping discuss the implications of the results
on our profession.
