Women in Development of Greater Boston
The Program Committee presents:
"The Ins and Outs of Family Philanthropy"
Read the summary from this program
Family philanthropy is not easy. It takes hard work and new skills to overcome historical family dynamics and dysfunctions to identify common goals and set out to achieve them together.
So why do families engage in philanthropy together? What are common questions and challenges facing families in their philanthropy? How do different families decide on their collective philanthropic focus and goals, and how they will assess funding opportunities and make grant decisions? And what does this mean for development professionals?
Come learn from The Philanthropic Initiative's 21 years of experience working with families to help them make their philanthropy highly effective and strategic.
Lisa Spalding, Philanthropic Advisor, works with family foundations, independent foundations, and corporations to increase the impact of their giving through strategic planning, facilitation, social issues research, and design and evaluation of philanthropic strategies and initiatives. Lisa has a Master’s degree from University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment, where she was a Doris Duke Conservation Fellow and researched collaborative planning and conflict resolution. She also has a Bachelors of Arts degree from Oberlin College.
