WID launched the 2011-2012 program year with the annual Kick-Off Event, which was held on October 5, 2011, at The Westin Copley Place Boston Hotel. The event featured Massachusetts State Treasurer Steve Grossman, who shared insights from his life-long commitment to philanthropy and public service.

A successful business leader, an advocate for nonprofits, a well-known philanthropist, and now an elected official, Steve has a truly unique and comprehensive perspective on how the private, non-profit, and public sectors can positively impact our lives and our communities by what they do on their own and, more importantly, do together. Usha Pasi, WID President and Chief Development Officer at Facing History and Ourselves, engaged Steve in a conversation featuring questions submitted by WID members. Steve also answered questions at the end.
