"W.I.N. Success Stories"

April 22, 2009 - Program Summary

On April 22nd, WID celebrated the success of W.I.N. alums Dress for Success Boston and Adoption and Foster Care Mentoring. Nancy Schneider, co-founder of Dress for Success Boston and Marie French, Executive Director of AFC Mentoring spoke on behalf of their respective organizations. Joining Marie was Jocelyn Fary-Holzwarth, Manager of Special Events and Programs at Pine Street Inn, who was the W.I.N. mentor assigned to AFC Mentoring.

A common theme that both W.I.N. participants stressed was that a development program is key to growing a young organization. Neither DFSB nor AFCM had experienced development staff or deep development resources.

The WID W.I.N. Program helped to bridge this gap by providing professional counsel and guidance. Both DFSB and AFCM not only gained successful skills, but as a result of their participation, they forged relationships with their mentors beyond the W.I.N. program, resulting in mentors accepting invitations to join the boards of each respective organization.
