"Strategic Talent Management in High Performing Advancement Programs"

March 8, 2011 - Program Summary

On March 8, 2011, 70 WID members and friends gathered for a breakfast seminar at the development offices of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to hear from Sue Paresky, Senior Vice President for the Division of Development and The Jimmy Fund, and Jon Derek Croteau, Senior Consultant for Witt/Kiefer. Sue and Jon addressed the increasingly important topic of strategic talent management in the advancement profession. Jon started the session by providing a primer on strategic talent management (or human capital management) theory and research. He highlighted methods on employee recruitment, retention, and development. Sue followed with a deep look into practices that have been implemented at Dana-Farber, particularly during the Institute’s most recent $1.18B campaign. Attendees walked away with a much deeper understanding of this growing area and with suggestions for small and large changes to improve their own organizations. For your continued learning the speakers and WID have made their presentations available online.
