Women in Development of Greater Boston

The Program Committee Presents:

"Benchmarking in Action"

Read the summary from this program

Speaker: Deb Taft, Associate Vice President for Advancement, Simmons College

Learn from development professionals exactly what benchmarking tools they are currently using to measure their fundraising program's success. Roundtable workshops will be offered on Annual Fund, Planned Giving, Corporations/Foundations, Small Shops, Major/Leadership Gifts and Special Events topics. Advance sign-ups will be available for roundtable discussions and are secured on a first-come first-served basis as space is limited.

Deb Taft joined Simmons College in Boston as Associate Vice President for Advancement in the fall of 2007, where she oversees all individual philanthropy programs. The 40 advancement staff members are responsible for fundraising for the College of Arts and Sciences and all five of Simmons' renowned graduate schools, which include professional schools for management, social work, library science, health studies, as well as graduate degrees in the arts and sciences. A Harvard University graduate with an MBA from the Simmons School of Management, Deb has been in the non-profit advancement field for more than twenty years.

Prior to Simmons, Deb served as Vice President for Development at Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children. She oversaw all aspects of fundraising and was brought on to build a first-rate philanthropy operation to support the ambitious plans of this major academic medical center affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. New gifts and pledges increased from $5.9 million to $10.1 million in Deb's first year at Tufts-NEMC, followed rapidly by the announcement of a new $5 million gift commitment and the subsequent broadening of the hospital's entire philanthropy base.
