Women in Development: Celebrating A Quarter Century

The Brown Bag Committee Presents:

"Tried and True Tips and Techniques for New Major and Planned Gift Officers"

This event is sold out.

Speakers: Liz Cahn, Gift Planning Director, Brooks School and Rachel Silver, Senior Major Gifts Officer, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Fundraising is about engaging people face-to-face and building relationships. If you cannot secure appointments and schedule yourself to get out the door-you will never raise major gifts for your institution. Very few planned or major gifts are cultivated and closed sitting behind your desk.

Come and discover some practical strategies to bring back to your shop. Learn about planning tips for travel, techniques for making calls, tips for turning around an initial "refusal" and more!

Liz Cahn has worked in the non-profit sector for fifteen years. Her depth of experience includes expertise in major gift fundraising, planned giving, capital campaigns, stewardship programs, annual funds and special events in small and large shops. Prior to her work at Brooks, Liz was a Leadership Gifts Officer at Phillips Academy Andover during their $200M capital campaign with primary oversight of a successful $8.5M hockey rink campaign. In addition to her work with independent schools, Liz held the position of Assoc. Dir. of Gift Planning at Tufts University.

Rachel Silver has worked in the non-profit sector for fourteen years. Prior to her work at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Rachel worked in major gifts during capital campaigns at MIT's Sloan School of Management and Trinity Church Boston, and was an Associate Director in the Harvard Law School Fund. Rachel also worked at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education organizing development conferences nationally and has presented at conferences on major gifts and capital campaigns.
