Women in Development: Celebrating A Quarter Century

25th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon and Annual Meeting

Keynote Speaker: Joan Wallace-Benjamin, Ph.D., President & Chief Executive Officer, The Home for Little Wanderers

In February 2003, Joan Wallace-Benjamin assumed leadership of The Home for Little Wanderers, New England's largest child welfare agency and one of the nations oldest with a history dating back to 1799. She was formerly a consultant with Whitehead Mann, a global executive recruiting firm, the President & Chief Executive Officer of The Urban League of Massachusetts for eleven years from (l989 - 2000), the Director of Operations for Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston; Deputy Director of ABCD Head Start; and a Research Analyst for ABT Associates.

In 2003, Joan was named by Boston Magazine, as one of Boston's 100 Women of Power. She is a Trustee of Wellesley College and a member of the Board of Overseers for The Heller School for Social Policy & Management. She has been a Corporation Member of Northeastern University and a Trustee of Pine Manor College. Joan graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She received her Ph.D. from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University; and holds an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has received numerous awards for her impact on the Greater Boston community.

MBTA: Red Line: to Park Street stop, change to Green Line: Boylston Street stop walk down Tremont to Stuart or Arlington Street stop exit to Park Plaza walk on Arlington to Stuart Orange Line: New England Medical Center stop, exit at Tremont Street side, walk on Tremont to Stuart turn left on Stuart.
