2005 Young Philanthropist Award
Purpose
Women in Development of Greater Boston Young Philanthropist
Award recognizes and celebrates the contributions of young philanthropists,
male or female, who make a difference in advancing the spirit
of philanthropy in the greater community. The goals of the award
are to recognize a young leader who inspires philanthropy, to
highlight a model of philanthropic practice for future generations
and to illuminate the vital contributions made by a young philanthropist
that advance the mission of a nonprofit organization.
Nomination Criteria
The nominee (s) must meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrates exceptional charitable responsibility;
- Demonstrates novelty and creativity in the delivery of the
charitable activity;
- Inspire others to contribute financially to the primary
nonprofit organization served.
- Motives others to take on leadership roles that advance
the mission of the nonprofit organization and the field of
philanthropy.
- Nominee's charitable activity promotes the mission and sustainability
of the primary nonprofit organization served.
Eligibility
An individual or group who is 25 years of age or younger and
who works, volunteers, or resides in Massachusetts.
Nomination Process and Selection
All nomination forms were submitted by Friday, April 1, 2005.
Members of Women in Development and leaders of nonprofit organizations
(including board members, executive directors, department heads,
principals and heads of schools) can submit forms via our Young
Philanthropist Nomination Form.

WID's Young Philanthropist Award Committee will review nominees
and make a recommendation of the recipient (s) to the WID Board
for approval. Self-nominations will not be accepted. For all
finalist candidates, the Award Committee will contact representatives
from the primary nonprofit organization for references.
Presentation of Awards
The Young Philanthropy Award will be presented to the recipient
(s) during a luncheon program sponsored by Women in Development
on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel, located at 200
Stuart Street in Boston. A contribution will be made by WID
to the recipient's primary nonprofit organization.

Mission of Women in Development of Greater Boston (WIDGB)
Women in Development of Greater Boston is a nonprofit professional
association approaching 1000 members whose mission is to promote and
support the advancement of women in the development profession
and the importance of philanthropy. Today it is one of the largest
organizations of advancement professionals in Massachusetts. WIDGB
offers a variety of programs, services and opportunities for volunteer
involvement. Members help one another develop and improve professional
skills, share information about employment opportunities, and
foster a climate which promotes professional achievement.
