Solutions at Work was founded in 1989 by a group of 20 people experiencing homelessness at the time. During the ensuing 16 years the organization has provided services for more than 65,000 people in the greater Boston area, provided employment and a job history for more than 350 people, and given more than 25 people the opportunity to not only break out of homelessness, but to take on leadership roles in the community as entrepreneurs, non- and for profit managers, and members of local and national Boards. Solutions has also brought the voices of hundreds of homeless people into the legislature, faith communities, schools, colleges and businesses to educate people about homelessness and what needs to be done to change it.
